Thoughts & Prayers

“Our hearts break as we hear news of the events in Christchurch this morning. Our prayers and condolences go out to all who have been touched by this act of senseless violence. We cannot imagine the deep sorrow of families, neighbours, and communities around the world who have ties to these 2 faith communities, but we too do feel sorrow for the brokenness in our world which makes such violence possible. There will be time for questioning, reasoning, taking action to prevent such things in the future. But for now we weep with those who weep, and mourn with those who mourn, and offer prayers for comfort and healing. Today we hold Muslims and Muslim communities around the world and those closer to home in our hearts. Hatred may have placed its mark on this day, but we know, by faith, that love will always win.

Holy One, we are deeply saddened by events in New ZealandĀ  this day. We pray for all who have been wounded in this attack. We pray for for their families, friends, for emergency personnel, and we pray for the dead. Hold them all in your great love, we pray. Mend all in our world that makes for such things. In the days that come may your love, revealed in ordinary and extraordinary acts of compassion, and in care for neighbour and stranger, shine with the brightness of a billion stars so as to vanquish all darkness. Amen”
